Dr. Marion H. Martinez began her career as a language arts teacher at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Junior High School in New York. Possessing a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hartford in Connecticut, Dr. Marion H. Martinez has served as the superintendent of schools for both the Binghamton City School District and East Hartford Public Schools.
East Hartford Public Schools serves over 7,000 students at 16 locations, ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. The district has one high schools, two middle schools, nine elementary schools, and one pre-kindergarten school. In addition, it has one alternative school. East Hartford Public Schools has over 1,300 employees on its roster. The challenges of poverty, student mobility and low graduation rates are areas she focused on improving.
